well, it´s always hard to describe your own music, your band, your motivation for spending hours and hours rehearsing, recording songs, playing at shows... for me, this can somehow be reduced to a simple 'it´s like it is, ´cause i have to'. i don´t know about all the detailed motivations of my buddies, but i´m sure we have this one thing in common: making tripolis the best thing possible for us, while following our own convictions and our concepts of what an independent music group means. we would like to overcome with the illusion of bands that are somehow better or more important than the audience. there is no reason for any kind of gap between the active and passive part of a show. everyone can start a music group tomorrow, if he or she really wants to! tripolis as a band was founded in the mid of 2003. all the three of us have already played in several local music groups for quite a few years, ranging from punk/hardcore outfits to classical jazz formations. following the concept of two bass guitars, an insane drummer and adding a vibraphone, some sampling and a disco ball the band played a couple of shows so far and recorded a self-titled album. for the months to follow we would like to play as many shows as possible and try to share the energy and the emotions, that our songs stand for. being part of an instrumental band doesn´t mean that we have nothing to say!
